5 Ways the Age of the Aircraft Carrier Could End

For 80 years, aircraft carriers have been central to the U.S. Navy's power projection, but their large size and operational costs now face scrutiny. New weapons could soon make the carrier obsolete. 

There are, of course, more threats to an aircraft carrier. 

Further, an aircraft carrier is not totally undefended. But the point of this essay was to show you how so many of our most trusted defense systems are being overwhelmed by new technologies, such as those listed above. 

The carrier’s days are coming to an end. It’d be nice if Washington wouldn’t sacrifice these behemoths on the altar of its vanity.
