Can Britain Turn Bosnia Away from Secessionism?

The UK’s support for Bosnia and Herzegovina has been an unexpected and powerful display of solidarity, but much more needs to be done to put the region and Bosnia back on the Euroatlantic path.

Such policies will inevitably lead to the bloody disintegration of BiH if they are not put to an end in time, by the institutions of international law and in the interest of global security. Unless the United States, together with the United Kingdom and other pro-democratic powers engage in the tedious but necessary cleanup of disruptive forces in the Balkans, and a long-term constitutional reform that will break the chains of nineties nationalist politics, the Dayton Peace Agreement will continue to be a tool of perpetual annexation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
